Joe

Hi Joe here. I am 16 and been going to church all my life. I went to the traditional type of church most of the time. All smart and quiet in rows. Stand up here sit down there, sing a few songs. That type of thing. It was good, but I didn’t really get anything out of it.

In the summer of 2001 I started going to Barnabas and things really started happening. It was strange at first. People stood up and sang loud and raised their hands. Sometimes people sang in tongues. Weird!! After a while I started to realise that what I had been learning in Sunday school was true. I could see God working all the time. I heard other testimonies. At Saltmine (a Christian holiday that I go to every year) I made a commitment and confirmed what I believed.

I had never really learnt anything about the Holy Spirit at Sunday school. At Barnabas on a Youth Alpha course we did in our group we learnt about being filled with the Spirit and after the group I got prayed for and was filled with the Spirit for the first time. A few weeks later I invited some friends along to a talk by Ian McCormack and all three became Christians. This was encouraging!!

I have grown a lot in my faith since then and know I will continue.

JESUS ROCKS !!!
